A ageing lothario receives a letter from an anonymous former lover claiming that he fathered her child twenty years previous. He sets out on a tour of his past partners to find answers.
It is fine to make a movie about nothing. Dazed and Confused is about nothing and it is one of my favourites. Same with Clerks. With Broken Flowers though director Jim Jarmusch delivers a film about nothing that also lacks any feeling, message or resolution. Despite this there is still some pleasure to be derived due to the eminently watchable Bill Murray in the main role. IMDB lists Broken Flowers as comedy/drama/mystery but in reality it has barely any of each of those qualities. Decent soundtrack though.
