Blood Simple – 7/10

The Coen Brothers first film is a slow burning, neo noir drama that acts as a companion piece to similar films Miller’s Crossing and The Man Who Wasn’t There. The Coen’s first is their most serious work and is far removed from the likes of Fargo and The Big Lebowski. It is this versatility that has made the Coens one of the most celebrated directors in modern cinema.
To be honest neo noir is not a genre that I am overly fond of. Even the highly respected Chinatown left me a bit cold so Blood Simple was never going to be a film that I loved but I am glad I watched it, partly because I have now finally seen every Coen Brothers film but also because it is a good movie in its own right.

    1. Hey 🙂
I have seen all the Coen brothers movies apart from Inside Llewyn Davis (the latest one). Fargo and The Big Lebowski are my favourites but I also love O Brother Where Art Thou? and No Country for Old Men.
