The Life affirming true story of one family’s struggle for survival in the wake of the 2004 tsunami. In the age of Michael Bay it is refreshing to see a film with such jaw dropping effects also have some great acting and a strong story too. Naomi Watts has just been oscar nommed for what must have been a very gruelling role and Ewan Mcgregor continues his current good form with another able performance. It must have been tempting to make this film longer by having the story be a bit more Hollywood but director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) resists this temptation and lets the story speak for itself. A truly touching and emotional film. Try watching this without having something in your eye at least once. I dare you.
