Secretary – 7/10.

A young woman with self mutilation problems is released from a mental home. She starts working as a secretary for a creepy lawyer where she discovers that a sadomasochistic relationship curbs her self harming tendencies.

Firstly Maggie Gyllenhaal is brilliant as the secretary. She keeps the film from slipping too far in to WTF territory as her portrayal is so believable. James Spader also shines as her boss and they have wonderful chemistry together. It does kind of fade into nothing and feel a bit pointless by the end but it is worth sticking with for the acting alone.
