My Year in Popular Culture: 2017

If, like me, you are a lunatic who is obsessed with keeping banal records about your life then step right up. This post is for you…

Last year I watched 79 films and I felt like that was a lot. Too much for a man approaching 30 some said. Well this year I have surpassed/disgraced myself with a numerically pleasing total of exactly 100 films. Leaving the house is overrated.

Jon Ronson – officially my most read author of 2017

Even though it feels like I have been reading non stop until my eyes bleed because of my punishing uni schedule, I have actually only read two more books than last year. The total stands at 24 for 2017. Most of them were forced upon me. I have lost the joy of reading at the moment. Looking a book just makes me feel empty and also slightly hungry. Mostly empty though.

Jon Ronson – The Men Who Stare at Goats

Jon Ronson – Them

Jon Ronson – Lost at Sea

Live Music

2017 was the year when we said farewell to The Crookes…

Last year was a strong year for me attending live music, taking in a respectable 33 bands. This year though, in a desperate attempt to cling on to the dying embers of my youth I have enjoyed and endured a whopping 57 live performances in what is surely my highest total ever. Who do I think I am?
